July 2000 (part 2)
Sophie and Mommy finally arrived at 8 am at Novosibirsk and Sophie immediately realized that this was not going to be a restful vacation for her because Mommy started at once to misplace all her papers...
Most of all the important documents....
Hmmmmmm....
... thought Sophie (who sometimes talks like my Uncle Nick) but she didn't stroke her beard !!! And Sophie started to follow Mommy and pick all the papers up while Mommy was doing her best to lose them again...
On July 10th, nobody was available to drive Sophie and Mommy to the orphanage, so they rested a bit and did some
shopping. (mainly diapers and baby food FOR
ME) It had to be done because they had
been told that, if everything went well on the courtdate, they would be handed SWEET LITTLE OL'ME 
immediately... As for me, I was at the orphanage and I had no idea of what was going on,
although I should have noticed that they were preparing the nice turquoise dress for me...
On July 11th, Andreļ and Alla drove Sophie and Mommy to the orphanage (Alla is another interpreter who came with Sophie and Mommy because Olga was busy with the Chambers... The Chambers are very nice people who have adopted Emily... Emily is a very old little girl... She is 3 years old...)
So, Sophie and Mommy arrived at the orphanage and a caregiver brought me
in. I immediately recognized Mommy but it was the first time I was meeting Sophie and I couldn't even see her very well because she was hidden behind
the camcorder ! Doctor Piagaļ was pleased to see Mommy because, as a long
time had passed since her last visit, the doctor had thought that Mommy had changed her mind.... *sigh*... As if someone could change his
mind 
after having seen ME ! I, of
course, was not worried at all, I was sure that Mommy would come back...
Well, maybe I was just a tiny bit worried... And I was sure happy to see them
coming for ME...
We played a bit, they filmed ME, they filmed the doctor, they filmed the nice social worker, they filmed each other, they re-filmed me....
Mommy pretended to listen to what she was told but I could very well see that she was much too nervous to remember all... They gave their gifts for the children of the orphanage (toys, clothes, medicines) and they left... Mommy kissed me good bye and told me that we would see each other again the next day...
After she left, Mommy asked Andreļ and Alla to let her stop for a minute or two in the little town of Iskitim where I was born to film the place a little bit so that she could show me the film when I am a bit older... But Alla said that it would be an enormous detour, at least 1 km long, and that it would take too much time... Grrrrr... said Mommy , so Alla asked Andreļ to stop by the road side so that Mommy might film Iskitim that they could see from afar...s
Mommy started to film and after a fewaseconds two policemen
came towards her 
looking not very friendly... Mommy had been incidentally filming a police station and this is very very forbidden ... And to make things even worse Sophie and Mommy had left all their identity documents at the hotel and THIS
is even more very very forbidden... Much more than filming a top secret derelict police station along a road... So the policemen took everybody
to the main police station of Iskitim. (despite the enormous distance to drive! ) So,
eventually, Mommy saw Iskitim, but she didn't
dare filming anything anymore !!! That's why, of course, I didn't get to see anything... At the police station, Alla
was very upset and she was constantly telling Sophie and Mommy that things were going to be horrible and that they would certainly have
to spend the night there. (no Hilton, Mommy says!) But
eventually, the policemen let eveyone go after only 4 hours spent 'in
detention' !!!
When they were back at the hotel, at last, Sophie and Mommy were very happy that this day was coming to its end and they started getting ready for the next day....
The Day of the Judgement !!!
